Wedding gift for my best friend

My best friend who has been hanging out with me for the past 10 years got married. At the request of my best friend, I visited Sushi Hanaoka and treated him to sushi. It was the most delicious sushi I have ever tasted, and I would like to introduce it to everyone overseas.

Over the past 10 years, my best friend and I have gone out to eat many different kinds of delicious food, but this was the best ever, and I would like to share it with you.

Fish descriptions in English and liquor menus in English

First of all, a very good point is that the owner who makes sushi at the restaurant explains the sushi items in English for those from abroad. On the day I visited, there was a hall staff member who spoke good English, and he also gave an explanation in English. It is a restaurant with an attitude of trying to serve foreign customers politely.

Important note: Reservation is mandatory and only one course

Sushi Hanaoka is by appointment only. Basically, the sushi menus are left to the owner of the restaurant, and the course is 16,500 yen. (Only the “leave it to owner” course).It is not cheap, but the experience is more than worth the price.

It is a two-part system, and reservations are required for either of the following slots.

Weekdays: 18:00 – 20:30, 20:30 – 23:00
Weekends and holidays: 17:30 – 20:00, 20:00 – 22:30

Closed on the first Tuesday, Wednesday, and every Thursday of the week.

Calm and Japanese style storefront

The restaurant is located in a quiet area about 10 minutes walk from Shibuya station. The austere storefront is very exciting.

Carefully and delicately seasoned appetizer menu

Stewed sea bream milt. It is the best first dish with a gentle sweet taste.

Tempura of wild vegetables. The bitterness of the stems and the sweetness of the batter are exquisite.

Sashimi of a rare fish called Itoyori

Mambo intestines. The texture is like beef or pork hormone.

The nigirizushi I have been waiting for!

The course has about 23 items including appetizers. Some of the nigirizushi are shown in the photos.
It tastes as good as it looks. The sauce and soy sauce are well spread to each grain of rice.

Tuna with deep meaty flavor

Aji: The exquisite sourness and bitterness best enhances the umami.

Sea urchin bowl. 3 kinds of sea urchin are used. The sea urchin has little odor, melting sweetness, and a unique aroma of sea urchin. Paired with Senkin, a special sake brewed in sake whiskey barrels. The fruity sake and the unique aroma of sea urchin mingled in my mouth, and I tasted a flavor I had never experienced in my life.

Tontoko Shrimp. (I heard it is very rare.) The crunchy texture is addictive.

The highest grade of red armor(AKABU)

It is frustrating that I cannot verbalize it well because it was so delicious and there were so many flavors I had never tasted before. However, it was definitely the best sushi I have ever had in my life.
